Making of Neon
Celebrating Hong Kong’s disappearing traditions through a neon sign inspired by local street calligraphy. A collaboration with master craftsmen for "MADE IN HONG KONG" at ECAL’s Galerie L’ELAC.
The Neon Sign is based on lettering created by a local street calligraphy artist. This project involved a collaboration between two Hong Kong craftsmen whose professions are nearing extinction. The neon sign was featured in the "MADE IN HONG KONG" exhibition at GALERIE L'ELAC, ECAL from April 28 to May 27, 2016. I've completed several in situ projects, including this neon sign, a series of handmade posters, and a magazine about Mong Kok – the neighborhood where I lived during my stay – a place without aesthetic unity.
